Where I Hope to Someday Be

There are so many distractions. They assault my senses daily; overwhelming and over stimulating sights and sounds that leave me feeling numb.

And I'm tired of it.

Belated Summer Faves

I had every intention of posting this the first or second of September, but my time management skills of late have been quite sub-par. Things are always particularly hectic and overwhelming when school is first in session, and this year seemed to be more challenging than in the past. Despite all of that, I'd still like to share the tangible and intangible favorites of mine from this past summer, because there were some things that were, to a small degree, momentous and life changing.

I could be exaggerating on how life changing...

My Move Into Minimalism 05: I've Hit Silver...

As I continue on my journey towards a more minimal, simplified life, one of my ongoing goals has been to be sure to use up the makeup products I already currently own rather than buying backups or excess. This has resulted in some of, what I feel to be, victorious pan hitting. Here's a breakdown of this small accomplishment...

The Winds of Change Have Taken Me...

Hello again! This summer has been one of the busiest I've had in quite a few years. So I have, unfortunately, neglected my poor little blog again. But I'm back to try again at this, and I'd like to share some exciting updates with you all!

A Belated Haul and Product Review

I have returned! With a bit of a Sephora haul and my opinions on the products I purchased.

My Move Into Minimalism 04: Project Pan Conclusion and Thoughts

Hey there strangers. I know, it's been a while. Life happens.

Though I didn't post the update when intended, I was faithfully working away at my Project Pan items and came to a happy end with that endeavor. I thought I'd share the results and a few thoughts regarding the entire Project Panning-process. To see the start of this Project Pan, click here.

   First, the conclusion...in pictures.

Why I Need Concealer in My Life

Several months ago, I wrote a long winded post on my obsessive hunt for the perfect concealer. After reading Into The Gloss' post on their favorite concealers, I thought it might be good to share an update on not only what concealers work for me but what techniques I've found to be most effective.

I have (sadly) noticed that as I age, the skin under my eyes not only has more fine lines, but has become a lot drier. I have to be really careful what I use, because one false step can easily make me look like an absolute mess.  So let me get on with what I do to prevent that hot mess from happening.

A Few Things...

Hobbies are not meant to be stressful.

My Move Into Minimalism 03: Project Pan Update and Good-Bye to You

It has been an extremely crazy, busy month or so. It seems that every weekend has been packed full of events to the point that I've been completely swamped and overwhelmed.

Despite all of this, I've been faithfully keeping up with my Project Pan items, and I have made exciting progress in working through these products. Additionally, I finished up and decluttered a few more products that I thought I'd include in this post as well.

A Very Belated Post on My November and December Favorites

Belated yes, but my feelings towards the tangible and intangible items I'm going to talk about are still just as strong. So let's get into them, shall we? This is going to be quite a wordy post, so prepare yourself.

Boxycharm 12.15

I had every intention of getting this post up sooner rather than later, but I actually am glad I'm not getting to it until now because it gave me a good amount of time to test out a few of the products and formulate some solid opinions. So let's get into it!

One Liner Wednesday 015

Could I have failed to post One-Liners any harder? Oh well, here's some good ones...

My Move Into Minimalism Update 02: Project Pan Endeavor

I know it's been at least a month since I last posted anything to the blog. Again. It's been difficult to give a lot of attention to the blog when I work so much later in the day than I used to. There just never seems to be enough down time for my hobbies anymore.

In the last few months, I've really been working on moving unneeded, less-loved material things from my possession. I wrote quite a bit more about it in a previous post, and I just wanted to talk a little bit about the progress I've made and what some of my goals are now. This is quite a long-winded post, so prepare yourself.

Boxycharm 11.15

So I've been negligent in sharing what I've been receiving in my Boxycharm the last couple of months. Honestly, I have been going back and forth trying to decide whether I should keep my subscription to Boxycharm or if I should cancel it. I've been talking so much here on my blog about trying to minimize the amount of things I own, and it just feels as though having a monthly subscription box packed with products that I don't necessarily need to own or even wish to own seems counter-intuitive to that decision. So I may very soon be cancelling my subscription to Boxycharm.

We shall see. As for now, I just received this month's box in the mail today, so I thought I'd share what it included and my initial thoughts on the products.

On the Darkside

I have always found it humorous that darker colors are viewed as more "appropriate" or easier to wear during autumn, especially because I love wearing darker, richly saturated colors year round. I am always happy to wear a bold lip color, nearly black nails, and deep red eyeshadows at any time of year. However, there is something really fun about pairing it all together during the autumn. So I thought I'd share my most loved and new-found loved products/colors that I'll be turning to this autumn and winter.

One Liner Wednesday 014

Just a few little funny quotes from the kids this week.

"Ms. Samantha, you look more prettier today than yesterday!" -Chondra, 1st grade

"I sound like a horse." -Eric, 1st grade

"They're so old that they're dead." -Lizzy, 3rd grade

"I face planted." -Annie, 1st grade

Thanks guys, till next time.

September and October Favorites

It's been far too long since my last post. Even though I haven't been very active here on the blog, I've been trying out some new things and rekindling my love for long-time favorite items. So without any further ado, here a my favorite things from the months of September and October.

Good-Bye to You 02: Skincare Edition (and a little makeup)

It's been quite a while since I posted another edition of Good-Bye to You; where we take a look at all my trash and I give some wordy opinion on each product. I probably won't be so wordy this time around, because nobody has time for that. Am I right?

Let's dig in...

One-Liner Wednesday 013

   I know. I know.

I have been the worst at posting lately and I feel so bad about it, but I've been swamped with work and other responsibilities. I haven't had a great deal of extra time to edit and post frequently. I realized today that I haven't posted any funny kid quotes over the whole summer and I have so, so many that I've collected. So it's time to share! (As always, the names have been changed)

"I'm gonna catch a hermit person. And they're gonna live in my house. I can't wait to catch my first hermit person." -Dale, 2nd grade

"This is no time to eat breakfast inside!" -Ray, 2nd grade

"You sound like a little rat." -Katy, 2nd grade

"Like when your sister dresses up really nice for a party." -Me
"No, she dresses ugly." -Seth
"That's not very nice to say." -Me
"But she does dress ugly!" -Seth, 2nd grade

"But I'm not an awesome summer girl with a hat, like you!" -Lizzy, 3rd grade

"Everyday I'm smelling something different!" -Brandon, 1st grade

Till next time guys!

What to Wear: Vegas

Hey there! Sorry for the long silence here, I've been trying to keep up with my new schedule and just haven't had the time I would like to devote to the blog.

But I'm here today to share with you a few outfits that were inspired by Vegas.com. I based these outfits around key pieces that I knew would be ideal to mix and match with as I would go through a day on The Strip. I tried to approach this with my "new found Minimalist-mindset," try to use good foundation pieces in order to easily transition from one setting to the next. I hope you enjoy what I came up with!
